TCE is a not-for-profit agency that provides long-term residential, community, and outreach support to adults with developmental disabilities in the Ottawa area. We currently operate 14 residential locations and a Head Office. We are seeking a hands-on, reliable, and safety-conscious Maintenance Person to help keep our homes running safely and smoothly.
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Person is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections across all TCE properties. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that all homes and administrative facilities are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with applicable regulations, including MCCSS standards, fire codes, and health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform day-to-day maintenance and repairs across all TCE residential and office locations (e.g., drywall, painting, plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry).
Conduct regular interior and exterior inspections and respond to maintenance service requests in a timely manner.
Support seasonal and emergency tasks including snow and ice removal, salting, yard maintenance, and storm cleanup.
Coordinate, track, and perform routine preventative maintenance of equipment, appliances, and infrastructure.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Assist in larger projects such as renovations, safety improvements, and furniture installations.
Work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and all agency policies.
Act as a point of contact for alarm monitoring and emergency maintenance support.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years' experience in building maintenance or a related field.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall repair, and electrical troubleshooting.
Valid G-class Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle (minimum $1 million liability coverage).
Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work outdoors in various conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Must be flexible, dependable, and professional in a multi-site work environment.
