You will be involved in a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the safety and functionality of railway tracks. Here are some of the main responsibilities, but not limited to:

Track Inspection

: Regularly check the condition of railway tracks according to VIA Rail standards (NETS) to detect defects or damage under the supervision of a track foreman.

Track Repairs

: Address any issues related to tracks, ties, and ballast to maintain a smooth and safe railway system.

Infrastructure Maintenance

: Work on tunnels, roadbeds, bridges, walkways, and embankments to ensure they are in good condition.

Obstacle Removal

: Clear debris, snow, or fallen trees from the tracks, including weed removal, especially after severe weather.

Incident Reporting

: Document and report any accidents or incidents occurring on the tracks.

Use of Tools and Machinery

: Operate hand tools, welding equipment, and occasionally heavy machinery (e.g., forklift and others) to carry out major repairs.

Railway Protection

: As required by federal railway regulations and the maintenance center's operational manuals, as well as VIA's general engineering instructions. Additionally, proper communication protocols must be followed as required by the REF.

This position is physically demanding and often requires working outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the year.

Other requirements

:

Experience in building maintenance or repair. Practical skills, including but not limited to carpentry, painting, drywall, and general repairs, are essential. Must hold at least a valid Class G driver's license. The candidate must be available to work outside regular hours for urgent repairs or overtime as part of the Montreal Maintenance Center (MMC) operational schedule. The candidate must complete the following training: +

Year 1

: GEI, CROR
+

Year 2

: NETS, GEI, CROR, MORB, GEOHAZARD



Shedule:


Shift / Quart: 06:00 - 14:00
Rest days / Conges: Sam-Dim / Sat-Sun
