Maintenance Manager: Heavy Equipment

New maintenance management role in Castlegar, Salmo or Nelson BC.

We are looking for a Maintenance Manager: Heavy Equipment, based in either our Castlegar, Salmo or Nelson locations in the West Kootenays region of British Columbia to join our growing Sutherland Group Maintenance team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure all actions incorporate the Sutherland Group\'s Core Values of; Curious and Adaptable, Trustworthy, Humbly Confident, Better Together and Make it Happen.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities for construction equipment across the organization, including inspections, repairs and planned maintenance.
  • Minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure the availability of necessary parts, tools, and materials required for effective and timely equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, anticipate maintenance needs, and implement proactive measures to minimize equipment failures and disruptions.
  • Manage the maintenance budget, control expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies, fostering a culture of safety awareness and adherence to best practices.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers, suppliers and external service providers to facilitate effective repairs and maintenance support as needed.
  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships, including operations personnel, finance, and health and safety.
  • Utilize maintenance management software and systems to track maintenance activities, monitor equipment performance, and generate reports for analysis and continuous improvement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

As a member of the Sutherland Group team, we expect you bring the following to the table:
  • 3-5 years\' experience within a heavy equipment focused industry.
  • 1-3 years of equipment maintenance experience.
  • Training in auto and/or equipment mechanics at a trade school, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A working knowledge of all heavy equipment operations & provincial transportation regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Must maintain a valid Class 5 driver\'s licence and the ability to travel to the USA.
