The Maintenance Manager at Freedom Cannabis is responsible for ensuring that all production and facility equipment operates efficiently and safely. This role requires an experienced professional who will oversee the maintenance department, ensure adherence to safety regulations, and manage preventive maintenance programs for all machinery and systems. The Maintenance Manager will also coordinate troubleshooting and repairs, develop long-term maintenance strategies, and support the overall operational goals of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the preventive maintenance program for all production machinery, HVAC systems, lighting, irrigation, and other essential equipment.
Perform regular inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on all mechanical and electrical systems within the facility.
Ensure all equipment and systems are compliant with industry standards and regulations, including safety, environmental, and health regulations.
Lead a team of maintenance technicians, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback to ensure high levels of competency and productivity.
Assign tasks, create schedules, and manage workloads to ensure the maintenance team operates effectively and efficiently.
Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
Enforce and promote safety procedures and ensure maintenance activities are conducted in a safe manner in compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory bodies.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports related to equipment repair, safety inspections, and facility conditions.
Respond to emergencies, facility breakdowns, and urgent maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
Manage the maintenance department budget, including expenses for parts, tools, labor, and external services.
Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers for equipment, parts, and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
Recommend improvements or upgrades to equipment and systems to optimize performance and reduce operational downtime.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance processes, reducing downtime, increasing equipment lifespan, and improving overall facility performance.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, quality control) to ensure alignment with business objectives and operational efficiency.
Develop and implement strategies for the long-term optimization of plant operations.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in maintenance management or related roles in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally within the cannabis, food, or pharmaceuticals industries.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
In-depth understanding of OSHA and safety regulations.
Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with different departments.
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software is a plus..
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods.
Comfortable working in various conditions, including temperature-controlled environments and cleanroom settings.
