THE OPPORTUNITY
Assist tradespeople with equipment repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
Support production by responding to equipment issues, escalating concerns to tradespeople as needed.
Perform general building maintenance such as painting, plumbing support, and minor repairs.
Help maintain tools, parts inventory, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
Carry out routine inspections of equipment and the building to identify potential issues.
Assist with installation of machinery, fixtures, and other plant equipment under supervision.
Complete assigned work orders and report progress to the Maintenance Lead Hand.
Provide general support to maintenance projects and improvement initiatives.
Responsible for maintaining food safety standards in work responsibilities and report food safety issues to QA immediately.
Work in a safe manner in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act by reporting all hazards, accidents, incidents or near misses to the Supervisor.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
THE REQUIREMENTS
Read, write, and communicate (English)
Technical training in maintenance or related field is an asset
Mechanical aptitude with a good knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods, and trade practices
Ability to lift 60lbs and work in cold, hot, and dirty environments
Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively
Previous experience in a food manufacturing preferred
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Physically able to lift, bend, climb ladders, and perform hands-on maintenance tasks.
