We have an immediate and unique opportunity for a full-time Maintenance & Engineering Manager based at our Prince George, BC facility. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a pension program. Relocation assistance may be available for exceptional candidates.
THE POSITION
Maintenance Manager
Ensure the plant and physical assets are maintained to support safe and reliable operations.
Manage resources to maintain, enhance, and integrate the latest electrical and mechanical technologies.
Achieve or exceed equipment availability, safety, and quality targets.
Engineering Manager
Oversee process and project engineering, laboratory, environmental, and industrial hygiene functions to ensure safety, production efficiency, quality, regulatory compliance, cost control, and employee development.
Coordinate capital requests and allocations to maximize resource utilization in alignment with site priorities.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in maintenance, engineering, or technical management roles within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies, mechanical and process engineering, and project management.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and manage teams effectively.
Experience ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Familiarity with budgeting, cost control, and financial planning processes.
Proficiency in maintenance and engineering software tools and asset management systems.
Consideration may be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in industrial process facility production management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration within a reasonable timeframe.
Certification in relevant project management, safety, maintenance, or engineering disciplines is considered an asset.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Safety, Health, and Environmental
Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental standards and regulations.
Lead hydrogen peroxide process safety compliance and promote a strong safety culture.
Oversee environmental and industrial hygiene programs, inspections, and external agency relations.
Review all capital projects for safety and environmental impact.
Production, Process Development, and Project Management
Support plant performance through effective resource allocation for troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement.
Lead capital planning and project execution to enhance plant equipment and reliability.
Coordinate internal and external resources to deliver projects aligned with business objectives.
Oversee plant shutdown operations to ensure effective planning and timely execution.
Quality Assurance
Manage the ISO 9001 quality program, driving continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
Ensure materials, processes, and products meet manufacturing and customer requirements.
Maintain documentation, product traceability, and equipment history, providing technical support when required.
Cost Control and Budgeting
Develop and manage annual budgets for the Technical and Maintenance teams.
Lead cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives through effective planning and process improvement.
Prepare and support capital funding requests (AFEs).
Leadership and Team Development
Integrate maintenance and technical resources to achieve operational excellence.
Build and mentor a versatile, high-performing team focused on safety, reliability, and productivity.
Promote proactive maintenance, collaboration, and continuous learning across all teams.
