We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance & Operations Engineering Support Department. Under the

direction of the MOES Controls & Automation Section Head or delegate, will provide controls and automation engineering support for

all energy stream assets, with a focus on Dispatchable Capacity Generating Stations.


Responsibilities:



Provide technical support for the maintenance and operations of controls & automation systems for generators and related auxiliary

equipment in Generation Operations facilities. Specifically:


Develop and maintain proficiency on legacy and modern generator control systems including governor and excitation

systems.
Provide technical direction to technicians and maintenance personnel for maintaining, testing and commissioning new,

refurbished, and existing control systems.
Initiate and prepare capital and maintenance resource estimates needed for control automation system improvement projects

in generating stations.
Lead and analyze failure investigations and create test plans for the restoration of failed equipment; complete root cause

analyses in APM.
Assess the condition and performance of generator control systems and prioritize related projects. Responsible for following and implementing NERC Reliability Standards and NERC CIP Cyber Security Standards. Prepare maintenance plans and procedures for new equipment and modify these procedures for equipment replacements and


as improvement opportunities become apparent.

Required to travel to generating stations in connection with field work during testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and

maintenance.

Required to be available to work during non-regular business hours to provide engineering and troubleshooting support during

call outs and planned and unplanned (forced) outages.


Qualifications:


Graduate in Electrical Engineering from a University of recognized standing and minimum of years related experience, which

includes a minimum of three years field experience directly related to the design, operation and maintenance, and testing and

commissioning of control systems for generating stations.
Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a

specified amount of time).
Expert knowledge of exciters, governors, and other PLC/HMI control systems as applied to generating stations, including

related troubleshooting and support processes.

Advanced knowledge of generating station design and operation, including electrical protection, excitation, governors, plant

set point control, switchgear, lock-out tag-out systems, and other auxiliary equipment.
Extensive practical experience and detailed working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment in generating

stations.
Ability to evaluate and develop new control and protection concepts. Exciter and governor specific commissioning or testing experience is an asset. Safety conscious and be knowledgeable about corporate safety rules and regulations. Must obtain and maintain a current Personal Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba


Hydro policy P513.

Must be able to travel to generating stations throughout Manitoba, with some longer duration trips as required. Possess and maintain a valid class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence.

Salary Range



Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $47.32-$65.33 Hourly,

$90,677.86-$125,192.08 Annually.
