We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance & Operations Engineering Support Department. Under the general
direction of the MOES Mechanical Section Head or delegate, will provide engineering support for all energy stream assets, with a
focus on Dispatchable Capacity Generating Stations to ensure safe, economic, and reliable operations. Mechanical Engineering will
be applied towards maintenance, innovative problem solving, root cause analysis, maintenance program development,
commissioning, application of predictive monitoring technology, project scope development and budgeting.
Responsibilities:
Provide mechanical engineering support for new installations, rehabilitation, up-grades and maintenance of energy stream
assets with a focus on Dispatchable Capacity Generating units. Analyze operating equipment performance and failures, then implement/recommend the most economical modifications to
provide efficient and safe operation to improve reliability, availability and performance. Participate in scope development and prepare condition assessments, technical specifications, recommendations, estimates,
and commissioning procedures for the energy stream assets. Perform site inspections and investigations to gather project information.
Participate or lead commissioning and final performance testing for new, repaired, or refurbished systems/equipment.
Lead various working groups through specific work assignments such as installation of new equipment or refurbishments,
equipment assessments, testing and commissioning.
Lead the creation of Maintenance Procedures and Maintenance Change Requests in collaboration with the applicable
Operations & Maintenance Staff and Asset Management.
Prepare engineering drawings for mechanical systems in compliance with design criteria, industry standards and regulatory
requirements.
Analyze equipment operating data and evaluate overall effectiveness of maintenance programs and functional design.
Analyze Force Outage Reports and complete root cause analysis and reporting.
Qualifications:
Graduate of a Bachelor of Science in a Mechanical Engineering program from a university of recognized standing plus a
minimum of six years' experience, which includes a minimum of three years of directly related experience in the field of
generation, transmission, distribution, or the conversion of electricity. Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a
specified amount of time). In depth knowledge of safety, mechanical engineering standards, regulatory requirements, codes and practices, including
general knowledge of Inspection and Technical Services Manitoba (ITSM). Working knowledge and understanding of the operation of thermal generating stations.

General knowledge of non-destructive examination, metallurgy, heat treating, materials selection, common welding processes
and techniques (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW) and their technical parameters. Proven ability in planning, organizing, and directing engineering work involving internal and/or external technical personnel.
Experience in Equipment Commissioning, Specification Writing and Equipment Overhauls will be considered an asset.
Willing to travel and remain at work sites for extended periods of time throughout Manitoba as required.
Physically able to perform duties that require mobility while working at elevations and confined spaces.
Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba
Hydro policy P513.
Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver's licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $47.32-$65.33 Hourly,
$90,677.86-$125,192.08 Annually.
