The Nancy Island Historic Site located in Wasaga Beach is a nationally significant location commemorating the War of 1812 and the heroic battle of HMS Nancy. This site offers immersive historical experiences, including costumed interpreters, hands-on demonstrations, and a replica 19th-century lighthouse with stunning views of Wasaga Beach.

In this role you will
help care for Ontario's heritage sites by fixing and building wooden structures like docks, roofs, fences, and furniture.
use your carpentry skills to make sure buildings and visitor areas are strong, safe, and true to history.
complete a mix of maintenance work, such as painting, simple plumbing, masonry, and equipment repairs, to keep everything in good shape.
safely use and look after tools and vehicles like tractors, ATVs, saws, and planers.
work with contractors, students, and team members to meet conservation standards and create spaces everyone can enjoy.
be ready to handle urgent repairs and help during special events or emergencies.

Mandatory requirements
valid Class "G" Driver's License.

Carpentry & construction expertise
You can:
know how to work with wood and use safe methods to care for historic and reproduction pieces.
build, fix, and improve structures like docks, ramps, roofs, and furniture.
read and follow blueprints, sketches, and plans to make sure measurements are correct.
use and maintain carpentry tools and equipment safely.
