Maintenance Assistant
to join our team at
Smith Creek Village in West Kelowna
. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and reliable professional to contribute to the safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents by ensuring that our buildings, equipment, and grounds are well maintained.
About The Role
As the
Maintenance Assistant,
you'll be part of a dedicated team responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, and timely responses to service requests. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will perform a variety of tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, and equipment repairs. You'll also assist with groundskeeping, inspections, and recordkeeping, ensuring that all maintenance activities support a safe and welcoming environment for our residents and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out preventative maintenance and respond to repair requests for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Install, maintain, and repair fixtures, furnishings, and building systems (carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical).
Service and repair equipment such as wheelchairs, lifts, washers, dryers, and small appliances.
Perform grounds maintenance, including irrigation repair, power washing, and exterior upkeep.
Maintain accurate records of repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
Monitor stock levels of tools and supplies, informing the Maintenance Manager of purchasing needs.
Ensure maintenance work and storage areas are clean, organized, and safe.
Model Baptist Housing's values and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
Skills Needed
Knowledge of maintenance best practices and safe work procedures.
Skilled in carpentry, plumbing, painting, equipment repair, and basic electrical work.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, team members, and partners.
Flexible, adaptable, and resilient with a collaborative mindset.
Comfortable using computers and basic software for communication and reporting
Requirements
Training in building and systems maintenance.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant maintenance experience.
Physically able to perform the duties of the position.

Compensation & Benefits
This position offers $27.10 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package (Life, AD&D, LTD, Dental, and Extended Health Benefits) as outlined in the HEU agreement, beginning after successful completion of your probationary period. You'll also be welcomed into a warm and supportive team environment.
