Nature & Scope:


The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained facilities, ready to meet the needs of all participants. This role will help oversee the building and maintenance repair, pool heating, pool chemistry filtering equipment, custodial tasks and management tasks as required.


As a member of the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre's team, you will support ensuring the facility is operating efficiently and meeting Association standards of convenience, clean and well maintained, safe, friendly, and welcoming, builds positive relationships, providing opportunities to learn and grow. Furthermore, the assistant will ensure that the YMCA mission and core values are being delivered in our daily operations.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible pool heating and filtration equipment as required, and the ability to work unsupervised when needed. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, customer service excellence, and outcomes focused approach to facility maintenance and operations Responsible to support a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility. In line with achieving the Association strategic plan, responsible for assisting in developing maintenance goals and outcomes on an annual basis. Be familiar and being able to assist the fire marshal in their duties. Accountable for achieving operations and maintenance goals. Supports high service standards and satisfaction ratings throughout the centre. Achieves all YMCA quality management targets. Participates as a member of the facility team to ensure seamless integration programs into the various operations in the facility. Adherence to all YMCA of Northern BC policies Familiarity and ensuring compliance with applicable local, provincial, and national standards and requirements related to aquatic facility operations. Carry out scheduled cleanings and checklist

Requirements:

A minimum of grade 12 diploma or equivalent, additional vocational training will be considered an asset. A combination of experience and training related to aquatic operations. Current BCRPA Pool Operators Level 1 within 1 year of employment start. Current WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certifications or willingness to complete. Maintain a satisfactory criminal record check and clear vulnerable sector search Physical ability to perform the tasks required. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date 3 professional references
