Our Team:

The Instrumentation Technician Apprentice is integral for employee safety and Vale\xe2\x80\x99s long term operating strategy. Members of this team will work at the T3 Mine to ensure the mobile fleet is effectively contributing to the production profile. Team members are also involved in the development of long-term and short-term maintenance initiatives, practices and procedures.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Instrumentation Technician Apprentice \xe2\x80\x93 to join our Maintenance Department in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position. We are accepting applications for apprentices in all levels, 1-4.

As an Instrumentation Technician Apprentice, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of production by installing /replacing and calibrating instrumentation devices. Your experience and skills will contribute to scheduled or emergency repairs.

Additionally, in this position, you will.

• Safely install, test, debug and troubleshoot various pieces of equipment, performing inspections as required.
• Safely perform preventative maintenance (PM) work to support production.
• Diagnose and repair instrumentation equipment problems and breakdowns to reduce impact on operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams and OEM Manuals.
• Respond to emergency situations and or call outs as required.
• Report deviations to established procedures and provide required documentation of work performed.
• Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

About You

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Qualify or be registered as an apprentice in the province of Manitoba.

Experience:

• Minimum of 6 months of repair experience in work and school
• There may be a requirement to pass a skills test depending on experience.

Skills:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced underground mining environment.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Demonstrated concern for Safety, Health and the Environment
• Demonstrate initiative, follow instructions and the ability to communicate well with others.
