Reporting to the
Environmental Services Manager,
the Maintenance Aide is responsible for supporting the safe, functional, and well-maintained operation of the Long-Term Care Home in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021 (FLTCA), Ontario Fire Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and all applicable legislation, standards, and collective agreement provisions.
Key Responsibilities and Skills:
Perform routine and preventative maintenance of building, grounds and equipment
Complete minor repairs including drywall, painting, plumbing fixtures, lighting, flooring, and hardware
Response to and document maintenance work orders using the homes computerized maintenance system
Support life safety systems, fire safety checks, emergency preparedness activities and drills
Assist with contractor coordination while ensuring safety, IPAC, and policy compliance
Identify safety hazards, report deficiencies and support corrective actions
Follow Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) practices and use PPE as required
Qualifications:
Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in building or facilities maintenance preferred, ideally in healthcare or LTC settings
Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently
WHMIS and Health & Safety training
Fire safety training
A Vulnerable Sector Screening check to the satisfaction of Primacare(TM) Living Solutions. One that has been completed with the last six (6) months
Proof of full immunization (2 doses) against COVID-19
Annual Flu Vaccine strongly recommended
