Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled

Senior Mainframe Developer

to join our technology team in Mississauga. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and experience delivering complex enterprise solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain, enhance, and modernize critical mainframe applications in a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, enhance, and support mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Perform unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning of mainframe programs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, DevOps, Business Analysts) to deliver high-quality solutions.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Support production systems and provide timely issue resolution.
Contribute to mainframe modernization or integration projects (where applicable).

Technical Skills & Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
7+ years of hands-on experience in

Mainframe application development

.
Strong proficiency in

COBOL

,

JCL

,

DB2

,

VSAM

, and

CICS

.
Experience with

file handling, batch processing, and online transaction systems

.
Working knowledge of

SQL

and

stored procedures

.
Experience in

debugging tools

(Expeditor, Abend-AID) and

version control

(Endevor, Changeman).
Exposure to

Agile/Scrum methodologies

.
Familiarity with

mainframe modernization tools

APIs

, or

integration with distributed systems

is a plus.

Nice to Have:

Experience in

migration or re-platforming

mainframe applications.
Exposure to

DevOps pipelines
