The Mail Clerk/Receptionist processes, sorts and distributes all incoming and outgoing mail daily. In addition, this position will provide back up reception duties daily which include performing a variety of office support duties such as: answering the telephone, arranging for couriers, filing, booking conference calls and meeting rooms on site through Outlook and greeting and directing visitors.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

  • Receives, records, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, internal correspondence and other related documents. Affixes postage to outgoing mail using the postage machine.
  • Performs back-up reception by performing duties such as directing calls, receiving and relaying messages, greeting and directing visitors, sending and receiving couriers, booking meeting rooms and providing general information to visitors and callers as needed.
  • Operates office equipment such as postage machines, photocopiers and fax machines including carrying out minor maintenance by performing tasks such as clearing paper paths, checking and reloading paper trays and changing toner cartridges.
  • Types material such as correspondence, reports from drafts and courier forms.
  • Performs other related duties as required.



What you bring
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 and one year\'s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.



Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to keyboard at 45 w.p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC\'s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
