Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging manager/supervisor, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist I support a safe and efficient patient and family centered care experience. This position is responsible for providing high-quality direct patient care and producing quality images. As part of an interdisciplinary Diagnostic Imaging Services team, this position is required to work all shifts and provide on-call coverage when assigned. Reviews requests for Diagnostic Imaging examinations for relevant patient history, medication(s) and laboratory test results to identify imaging requirements. Correctly identifies patient and follows NOD (Name Occupation Duty). Performs high quality patient care, comfort and safety by: Explaining procedures and applicable preparation requirements to the patient. Obtaining relevant medical history, completing screening questionnaires and consents as applicable. Responding to questions, concerns, or physical and psychological needs of the patient. Recognizing and responding to patient limitations, changes in patient status and/or adverse reactions and adapts exam or procedure accordingly. Assuring patient confidentiality and privacy. Performs accurate imaging by selecting the appropriate protocols as approved by the radiologist according to clinical history on the requisition. Screens and documents all patients, visitors, caregivers, and staff for MRI contraindications and obtains signed documentation as applicable. Verifies all metallic objects are removed from all individuals prior to entering the MRI environment. Verifies and directs proper procedure for all MRI safe or conditional equipment used in the MRI environment. Provides hearing protection, maintains communication and observation, and use of an emergency call device for the patient. Verifies the proper use of the MRI coils and their respective cables.Description:As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.

Required Qualifications:Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Successful completion of CAMRT registry exam in MRI. Member in good standing and current registration/eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Ability to work confidently, independently and within collaborative partnerships/ teams. Strong organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively liaison with various professionals. Perception, initiative, accountability, good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy. Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Ability to effectively communicate in English required. Practices effective infection control and MRI safety techniques as applicable. Preferred Qualifications:ACMDTT enhanced practice for Venipuncture and Medication Administration.
