Operations related to vessel maintenance, repairs, and general marine activities as well as industrial repairs & maintenance. This hands-on role as part of a skilled team, ensuring project deadlines are met, and maintaining high-quality standards in all tasks.




Job Summary:



As an experienced Machinist, you will be responsible for performing precision machining to manufacture, modify, and repair components for marine vessels and industrial equipment. Utilizing a range of materials and machining techniques, you will ensure that all parts meet strict specifications and quality standards, playing a key role in maintaining the reliability and safety of marine operations.



This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining both manual machines to produce high-precision components in accordance with engineering specifications. Success in this position requires a keen eye for detail, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and efficiency.



Flexibility and a proactive approach are required, as additional duties may be assigned to support the dynamic needs of the business. Strong communication is a key aspect of this role. You will be expected to maintain regular and clear communication with the immediate supervisor and other departments to ensure operational alignment and efficiency.




Job Duties and Responsibilities:


• Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other precision tools to machine and fabricate parts.


• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce accurate components.


• Perform repairs and modifications to marine equipment, vessel & industrial components, ensuring compliance with industry standards.


• Inspect and test completed components to ensure proper functionality and quality.


• Maintain and troubleshoot machine equipment to ensure optimal performance.


• Collaborate with maintenance and repair teams to address urgent and planned repairs.


• Uphold safety protocols and workplace cleanliness in compliance with company and industry standards.




Education and Training Requirements:


• Trade certification in machining or a relevant apprenticeship (preferred).


• Experience in manual machining in an industrial or manufacturing setting.


• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.


• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.


• Knowledge of tooling selection, machine setup, and programming (Manual experience preferred).


• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


• Understanding of workplace safety regulations and best practices.




Work Conditions:


• Periodic 24/7 availability may be required.
• Physical ability to lift to 50lb.
• Travel to off-site locations may be required.
• Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
• Overtime as required.
• Hazards associated with trade.
• Work both indoors and outdoors.
• May be exposed to construction sites.
