JOB OVERVIEW

Responsibilities:

Machining & Tooling ProductionSet up and operate CNC machines and conventional machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) to manufacture, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and engine components. Perform basic CNC programming and editing, including one-off and small-batch tooling jobs. Use CAD/CAM software (SurfCAM or equivalent) to program complex tooling, fixtures, and precision parts--selecting appropriate tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies. Manufacture components to tight tolerances, including complex geometries and specialty materials consistent with aerospace-level craftsmanship. Follow manufacturers' instructions and internal specifications for machining and repairing aircraft engine components involving dimensional constraints.

Tooling Design & Collaboration

Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, 3D models, and verbal requests to develop tooling solutions that meet functional and dimensional requirements. Build, adapt, and improve custom tools, jigs, and fixtures to support production, repair, and overhaul activities. Work closely with engineering, methods, and production teams to: + Recommend tooling concepts
+ Improve manufacturability
+ Reduce setup times and optimize workflows

Inspection, Maintenance & Support Activities

Perform precision measurement and inspection using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other metrology equipment. Conduct routine machine and tooling maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, minor repairs, tool changes). May be required to transport, stage, clean, inspect, or repair parts, components, or tooling between workstations. May be required to support other machining or maintenance categories based on operational needs. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized toolroom environment in accordance with health, safety, and quality requirements.

Qualifications:Completed DEP, DEC, or ASP in Machining, or equivalent. Red Seal Machinist Certificate is a strong asset. Experience in a toolroom environment manufacturing or modifying fixtures, jigs, and custom tooling (one-off or small batch). Experience with both CNC and conventional machining is required. CAD/CAM experience (SurfCAM or equivalent) is a strong asset. Experience in repair & overhaul, toolroom machining, or precision manufacturing in aerospace, automotive, or related industries is an asset. Ability to read and understand technical drawings and work instructions in English. Demonstrated responsibility for quality, attention to detail, and ownership of results. Strong problem-solving skills, self-reliance, and resourcefulness in developing practical tooling and machining solutions. A keen sense of innovation and continuous improvement.

Intermediate level knowledge of English is necessary for aeronautical personnel to meet regulatory requirements, understand technical procedures and instructions, and document entries regarding work performed on the aeronautical product for customers outside Quebec.
