Immediate need for machinist seekingThis is a custom job shop and they build to sample. Will be using a variety of machinery to manufacture custom commutators - will use machines like a manual lathe, drill presses, saws etc. Will manual slotting (assembling) the commutators with copper, mica and steel and then are put into the lathe to be machined.:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
- Will be manufacturing custom parts using a manual lathe as well as other 'rotating equipment'
- Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance.
- Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
- Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
- Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers), Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional machine tools including.
- Must be cross trained in various roles, various tasks assigned at all timesMUST HAVE Requirements:
- Some experience on a Manual Lathes
- Able to read measuring instruments - i.e.. Vernier's, Outside Micrometers, scales, bore gages, inside micrometers
- Able to read and understand printsExperience, Education and Skill Requirements
- Requires a collage diploma in mechanical engineering or a related subject.
- Must have at least 2-3 years of manufacturing related working experience in a machine shop
- Must have excellent understanding of English both written and oral communication.
- Must be competent in the use of computer software.
