Apprenticeship Overview:
Upon successful completion of probation period, the Company will sponsor the employee through the General Machinist Apprenticeship Program offered through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Successful applicant must possess good listening and knowledge retention skills with a willingness to follow instructions.
Candidate will commit to our General Machinist Apprenticeship Agreement. This agreement includes:
Commitment to a 4 year skilled training program.
Attendance of 8 hour weekly college class and 32 hours per week in Machine Shop.
Completion of all sections of the training standard as outlined by the Ministry within four (4) years of apprenticeship program.
Agreement of candidate to reimburse all tuition paid by Company if fail to successfully complete a school year.
Duties:
Duties will change as candidate progresses through the training program.
Entry level duties include:
Cut materials on saw.
Feed parts into CNC machines under close supervision.
Follow direction of shop leadership.
Ensure machines are cleaned and maintained.
Perform additional shop duties as directed (sweeping, cleaning, inventory count).
Accurate production record keeping.
Adhering to all company policies and standard operation procedures.
Qualifications:Qualifications:
Minimum Grade 12 education with demonstrated proficiency in trade mathematics.
1 year of relevant work experience in a machine shop environment.
Prior experience with machining components to close tolerances, general machine shop equipment and a basic knowledge of blueprint reading an asset.
Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn.
Valid 'G' driver's licence and own vehicle.
