Job Overview

We are currently looking to add a 3rd or 4th Year Machinist to our National Service Group (NSG) - Mobile/Project Based.

Reports to: Manager, Planning & Scheduling

Shift: 14 x 7, 6 x 1, 14 x 14, 12 x 2 depending on project requirements, Days or Nights - 100% Travel

Location: Home office located in Edmonton, AB, but work is project-based across Canada (Candidates from Western Canada preferred (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan)

Relocation: This position does not offer relocation

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, Line Boring, milling machines, Bortech welding and grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Setup, adjust, and operate all basic and specialized machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products
and determine product dimensions and tolerances. * Maintain machines and troubleshoot malfunctions. Determine if machines require adjustments or repair.
  • Program computers and electronic instruments such as numerically controlled machine tools.
  • Build or dismantle machines and shovels using hand tools and power tools; examines for defects and replaces parts where needed.
  • Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection and testing.
  • Recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must have completed 2-3 years of registered apprenticeship training.
  • Possess a valid driver\'s license.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively with management and team members.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of machining tools, hand tools, power tools and measurement tools.
  • Ability to travel interprovincially during shift rotation.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proof of completed apprenticeship hours.
  • Able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must be able to climb, work at heights (may exceed 200 ft).
  • Confined Space work when required
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the project.
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
  • Prior to offer, all candidates are required to pass a drug and alcohol test, a fit for work test, and background check.
