Job Description


We\xc2\x92re looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor for our client located in Regina, SK.

With a positive, team-focused work culture, our client is a leader in the manufacturing of agricultural equipment.

The Machine Shop Supervisor will lead a team of 15 Machinists, including scheduling, training, development; as well as setting and measuring goals based on production schedule.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday, 4 days a week/10 hours a day, with paid overtime. Flexibility for overlap of shifts is important.

Machine Shop Supervisor responsibilities:

  • Maintain and monitor work orders, reporting any parts or materials shortages
  • Liaise with maintenance team to diagnose and resolve equipment issues, including facilitation of external service technicians as needed
  • Work with machine shop team to resolve technical issues
  • Resolve capacity constraints by planning additional staff or overtime hours, or working with the Production and Purchasing teams to outsource machining.
  • Perform quality inspections on raw material, fabricated parts and outsourced parts.
  • Evaluate and monitor machining processes and equipment and propose and implement improvements. In particular, continuously work to minimize equipment setup time and other non-value-added activities.
  • Manage and procure tool and consumable supply for the machine shop, and identify cost and time-saving opportunities through improved tooling.
  • Create and maintain machining setup documentation.
  • Continuously improve processes to minimize variation in quality and productivity rates.
  • Cross train with other supervisors to ensure efficient operation through absences.
The successful candidate has:
  • Demonstrated experience with both manual and CAD/CAM programming with sound understanding of machining practices and principles
  • Proven understanding of 4th axis applications, probing cycles and understanding of code
  • Strong work ethic and initiative
  • Ability to lead a team, focused on engagement and embracing a positive company culture
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills
  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Past experience working with suppliers (external service vendors)
  • Ability to present ideas to management, team members and suppliers
  • Journeyman status and/or extensive industry experience will be considered a strong asset
Compensation and benefits:
  • The discussed salary range is $85,000 to $90,000/year (depending on experience) plus overtime for any hours beyond 40 hours/week
