We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Niagara Propagators. This role will be based at our Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario location. This is a role that requires the individual to work on-site.
The Machine Operator will assist the Lead Machine Operator in the day-to-day operations of Niagara Propagators. As a Machine Operator in Niagara Propagators, you will perform a variety of tasks, including operating specialized machinery for plant propagation, such as seeding lines, organic line, selecting, block lines and spacing machines. Other tasks include performing equipment checks, maintaining a clean work area, and potentially operating forklifts to move materials.

Responsibilities
Safely and effectively set up and operate machines related to plant propagation, such as seeding lines, organic line, selecting, block lines and spacing machines
Load and unload materials and finished products using equipment like forklifts
Conduct pre- and post-operation checks on machinery
Perform daily cleaning/sanitation of machinery
Keep the work area clean
Ensure that machinery is functioning properly and producing high-quality products
Troubleshoot and ensure adequate maintenance of the machines in conjunction with the maintenance team
Enter inventory and other relevant data into greenhouse software
Support production based on business needs and requirements
Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures
During slower periods when machine operation is not required, the employee will be assigned other duties within the greenhouse as needed.
Qualifications
1-2 years of machine operation and/or technical experience is considered an asset.
Previous experience working with equipment in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a greenhouse setting, is considered an asset.
Basic computer skills and ability to use manufacturing software
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions as necessary
Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
Spanish language skills are considered an asset
Work in a cold, wet, humid, and warm environment
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 20 kgs) and stand for long periods of time.
