POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Operator under minimal supervision is responsible for the set up and daily operation of the Volpak production machinery and to ensure the line is continuing at the desired optimal level.

ROLE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ability to work a day shift Monday through to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Set up the machine including ensuring any calibration is completed in accordance with Company specifications. Clean the Volpak equipment ensuring all SOPs are followed. Report machinery malfunctions to the appropriate parties. Ensure all quality checks on the machine are done as per the required schedule and log statistics onto specified forms. Submit any samples to the Quality Control Lab for testing. Complete cleaning and testing logs. Control flow of predetermined varieties of coffee. Observe thermometer and adjust temperature controls as required. Ensure packaged materials are up to quality standards. Discard any products that are incorrectly packaged or damaged in specified rework bins. Apply approved methods, package the finished goods neatly into storage units such as trays, cartons etc. Lift trays and packaged goods onto skid. Assemble the cardboard trays, ensuring they are done according to specifications. Using pump trucks, transport pallets of packaged goods to specified areas within the warehouse for shipping. Ensure daily housekeeping is maintained. At the end of shift ensure all machinery parts are cleaned in accordance with Company specifications. Work safely and ensure health and safety is of paramount importance. Conduct monthly inventory as required Assist with material handling (bring raw materials to production area). Assist in any area as required by the Production Supervisor. Adhere to GMP and GDP practices. Adhere to all Food Safety and QA practices All other duties as assigned. Complete all require check in redzone in a timely manner.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION:

Minimum 2 years' experience operating a machine in a manufacturing and/or production environment. Able to lift 35 lbs. on a regular/consistent basis. Keen attention to detail. Able to take instruction and direction well. Good communication and listening skills. Able to read and write English to complete production logs. Quick paced and able to keep up with fast paced production lines. Friendly and customer focused attitude. Ability to work well within a team and independently. Food and beverage experience strongly preferred.
