Machine Operator

Overview



The Machine Operator will oversee the operation of automated production machines for making pre-rolled joints (cannabis). The Operator will perform a variety of hands-on tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the equipment. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Machine Operator will play a key role in contributing to the Company's daily operational success.

General Duties



Report directly to the Operations Manager and work collaboratively with other Operators to align day-to-day tasks with the Company's operational goals and objectives: minimize downtown and produce quality products. Be available to work onsite at the Company's facility or other designated locations as required, ensuring hands-on support for production and operational activities. Follow instructions and perform additional tasks as assigned to complete tasks efficiently and maintain productivity.

Responsibilities



Operating the Machinery



The Operator should be familiar with the following components:

PLC/Microcontroller; Sensors/Switches; HMI Touchscreen; Wiring/Connectors; Air Compressor/Reservoir; Cylinders/Actuators; Valves/Tubing; Motors/Drives; Conveyor/Feed Systems

The Operator should be familiar with the following troubleshooting/cleaning procedures:

Address low pressure by draining water, replacing filters, or tightening fittings; adjust flow controls for smooth motion. Clear jams with food-safe solvent, check safety/limit switches, and lubricate rollers lightly to reduce friction. Daily: Verify air pressure, drain pneumatic water, clean sensors, and check for loose parts. Verify inventory and ensure adequate supplies of consumables. Weekly: Tighten fasteners, lubricate components, and test scale diagnostics. Monthly: Replace filters, inspect seals, and calibrate sensors/actuators. As Needed: Address errors using the machine manual, stock spares (seals, tubing, blades, etc.), and clean with food-grade agents for GMP compliance. Compliance: Document repairs for cannabis regulations; use precision tools for tight spaces (4'x2' machine footprint).

Production Operations



Operate automated pre-rolling equipment safely and efficiently, following standard operating procedures. Ensure uptime by diagnosing and fixing miscellaneous issues related to the machine (simple electronics, compressed air pneumatic systems, and other basic automated machinery, see above). Create support tickets with manufacturer and provide diagnosis in email with photos and written explanation. Schedule and attend support phone calls as needed. Carry out routine machine maintenance, ensuring that equipment remains in optimal working condition. Assist with product (cannabis flower) processing, and packaging of bulk products, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. Maintain accurate inventory records by organizing and tracking materials, finished products, and supplies. Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, sanitizing workstations and equipment, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the production areas and equipment. Wash and sanitize dishes, tools, and equipment used in production to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards. Complete other miscellaneous duties as assigned to support production, maintain a tidy workspace, and address ad hoc needs in the facility.

Compliance and Safety



Ensure all tasks are carried out in compliance with Health Canada regulations and the Company's operational policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to sanitation and safety standards at all times. Assist with the proper documentation of production activities to ensure records are up-to-date and audit-ready.

Facility Maintenance



Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks for production areas, including equipment, workspaces, and storage areas, to maintain operational readiness. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to minimize downtime. Support regular inspections and audits by ensuring the facility and operations meet regulatory and safety standards.

Team Support



Assist team members with production processes as needed, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed about updates to processes, regulations, and Company policies.
