The Town of Peace River is accepting applications for one (1) permanent, full-time Machine Operator 3 Lead Hand, accountable to the Public Works Foreman.


Reporting to the Public Works Foreman, the Lead Hand will provide support in relation to the overall operation and coordination of the Public Works Department. This position will lead and mentor staff in performing labour duties and operating equipment for snow clearing, utility digs, and infrastructure maintenance, while also assisting other departments as required.


The ideal candidate will have the following key characteristics:

Proven leadership experience in a municipal or construction environment. Experience operating equipment in a road building or utility capacity including vac trucks, loaders, gravel trucks, graders, dozers and others. A background working with a modern safety program including a practical and working understanding of ground disturbance, trenching safety, equipment safety, leading safety meetings, performing hazard assessments, and stopping work if necessary. Ability to plan, prioritize and coordinate work activities Competence in record keeping and reporting The ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a professional manner at all times. Possessing a Class 3 License and Airbrakes endorsement.
The position needs someone with a willingness to be on-call, take action in emergency response (ie, during flooding, etc.), and a desire to be part of building a great community.


Full Time o Permanent Employment

Wage: $43.50 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday -- 40 hours per week
