Compensation: $95,828 to $119,786 per annum (dependent on experience)

Additional Information: This role is "remote first", allowing the successful candidate to work from home anywhere in Canada.

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Machine Learning Engineering Specialist with extensive experience leading an ML Flow methodology, managing, deploying, and generating iterative feedback on machine learning models. The Machine Learning Engineering Specialist collaborates directly with the Data Science and Data Engineering teams to design, build, maintain and iterate machine learning models, algorithms, and systems. This role, in collaboration with the Data Science team, will also work closely with business stakeholders to understand business problems, determine project objectives and KPI\'s, gather data, design, and implement machine learning solutions.

Requirements:

Typical responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing vision and best practice leadership in the management, deployment, and iteration of machine learning models
  • Enable effective data pre-processing: collecting, cleansing, and preparing data for analysis and modeling.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Science team on model development: developing, testing, and refining machine learning models and algorithms for different business use cases.
  • Algorithm optimization: Analyzing and fine-tuning algorithms to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Deployment: Integrating machine learning models into production environments and monitoring their performance.
  • Evaluation: Evaluating the performance of machine learning models and making recommendations for improvements as well as supporting the development of performance reporting for various key audiences.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure that machine learning solutions meet business needs.
  • Research: Keeping up to date with the latest developments in machine learning research and incorporating new techniques and tools into existing systems.
  • Communication: Communicating complex technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders.
Educational Requirements:
  • A Machine Learning Engineering Specialist typically holds a master\'s degree or above in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field. In addition, they may have industry certifications such as Certified Machine Learning Engineer (CMLE) or Certified Data Scientist (CDS).
Required experience and skills:
  • Demonstrated strong skills and experience working within a Databricks ecosystem
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD tools and methodology
  • Experience and skills using SQL
  • Strong knowledge and skills associated with the ML lifecycle and related tools (e.g. ML Flow)
  • Proven leadership and experience following best practices for ML Ops activities such as:
  • Experiment tracking
  • Model Registry
  • Scheduling of ML pipelines
  • Production drift monitoring and alerting
  • Optimization of cloud compute resources
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or R.
  • Expertise in machine learning libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Experience with big data processing tools such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
  • Understanding of software development principles and practices, including version control, testing, and deployment
  • Strong mathematical skills and understanding of statistics and probability.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
