Job Title: Machine Learning Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to the team, including programming, code reviews, testing, and deployment.
  • Mentor team members on software development best practices and latest technologies.
  • Offer architectural guidance and oversee technical decisions across projects.
  • Stay updated with the latest AI technologies in ML/NLP/LLM and apply document understanding algorithms/models to solve business problems.
  • Actively participate in the complete data science lifecycle from model development to deployment and quality monitoring.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop new data extraction pipelines or improve existing ones.
  • Ensure timely delivery of solutions by adhering to project timelines.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical incidents and participate in post-incident analysis.
  • Conduct technical reviews of code samples and participate in technical interviews.
  • As a project technical lead, work with teams outside of Engineering to ensure all stakeholders understand project goals and timelines.
Essential Skills
  • 8+ years of software development experience and 5+ years with machine learning/natural language processing/large language models.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
  • Expertise in modern ML/LLM tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, RAG, LangChain.
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to design distributed and scalable systems with knowledge of common architecture technologies like message queue.
  • Experience working with cloud technology stacks such as AWS.
  • Proficiency in writing and reading RESTful APIs.
  • Experience in communicating directly with customers to synthesize their requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Expertise in document understanding, information retrieval, or PDF parsing.
  • Experience in LLM agentic design patterns.
Work Environment
This role offers a fully remote work environment within Canada, allowing you to work in your own time zone. You will initially start as a 4-6 month contract with potential conversion thereafter. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $72.00/hr.
