Summary

This position is responsible for performing greasing and oiling of all equipment in the wet end process and raw receiving areas.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Must ensure proper grease or oil is used and that fittings and bearings are wiped free of grease before and after greasing or adding oil
  • Is responsible for maintaining a written log of pump conditions, i.e. fluid levels, amount of oil use, condition of oil upon draining (black, water, metal, etc.)
  • Monitors bearings for heat, condition, and appearance while lubricating equipment. Maintains written documentation of the automatic lubricators inside the facility to ensure the proper amount of lubrication is being introduced into the system and that the units are functioning properly. Must be aware of surroundings and immediately documents and reports all equipment issues, such as failing bearings, cracked rolls, belt tracking, hydraulic oil leaks, belt lacing, guards, etc
  • Maintains all grease lines to ensure proper lubrication reaches all bearings. Installs new lubrication lines to all new equipment, and replaces faulty or worn lube lines to existing equipment in a manner consistent with Company standards
  • Ensures accuracy of data reporting systems and communications such as maintenance daily logs, parts tracking sheets, purchase requests, etc
  • Ensures preventative maintenance schedules, and that work orders are properly filled out and turned in to the planner scheduler as required by the schedule
  • Ensures tasks are prioritized according to Plant needs by determining the impact to loss of production and/or safety issues
  • Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition. Maintains all tools and equipment necessary to complete all functions required of the lubricator position
  • Follows proper environmental and food safety storage and disposal procedures
  • Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies
  • Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and incorporates acquired skills and knowledge
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style consistent with operational goals
  • Ensures that additional Accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational Divisional standards
Basic Qualifications
  • Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the Company
  • Must be able to effectively and accurately read, process and complete work orders, obtain materials from stockroom, and gather information from operator manuals, as well as have the ability to communicate orally with teamleaders, operators, mechanics, supervisors, and managers.
  • Must have the ability to work around such environmental conditions as hot air, hot and cold water, hot oil and slick floors.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand Plant and equipment manuals, Material Safety Data Sheets, instructional manuals, and oil and grease directions.
  • Must possess basic writing skills for recording pertinent information on daily logs, purchase request forms and work orders.
  • Must have ability to operate valves, keyboards, equipment and other controls; maneuver in close quarters and heights; climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds and catwalks on a regular basis; and use measuring devices such as tape measure, scales, gauges, calipers, grease gun, etc.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds; have considerable manual dexterity with both hands; possess good hand-eye coordination; and the ability to operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and pickup trucks. Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license and maintain automobile insurability.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks and maneuver in close quarters.
  • Must be able to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to furnish own basic hand tools.
  • Must possess basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and measuring.
Typical Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Relevant Experience
  • 2+ years of related experience
Other Information
  • The individual in this position must be able to perform basic mechanical functions.
  • The individual in this position must establish and maintain open communications and productive work relationships with Maintenance Supervisors, Shift Managers, Production employees and Maintenance co-workers.
  • The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the lines and have the ability to make decisions on sound judgment when a situation dictates.
  • It is imperative the person conducts himself/herself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and the surroundings.
  • The individual must be able to set direction and prioritize tasks. They must be able to work independently to troubleshoot problems with minimal supervision.
  • Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals.
