Shift:

Monday- Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm. (Flexibility to cover all shifts as required).



SUMMARY

The Terminal Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of freight while adhering to safety and service standards.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, manage, monitor, and oversee all aspects of terminal operations, including expenses annual performance appraisals, employee orientation and training, grievances, Occupational Health and Safety, security, freight movement, route planning, delivery schedules, customer complaints, payroll, equipment, and facility maintenance. Ensure terminal compliance with Health and Safety Legislation. Maintain terminal operations in alignment with the company's Mission Statement, emphasizing customer service and contributing to Erb Transport Limited's profitability. Make key decisions regarding terminal operations. Collaborate with department and division management on a regular basis to streamline processes. Ensure that the terminal, wash bay, and maintenance shop meet acceptable standards. Oversee terminal budgets and capital expenditures (CapEx). Communicate with Regional Dispatch, Linehaul, US Dispatch, and other terminal managers to resolve major issues. Recommend changes and identify problem areas. Analyse lanes, profitability, delivery schedules, and terminal costs. Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess shift and departmental performance, implementing changes to gain efficiencies. Collaborate with the Sales department on new business ventures, providing advisory support for new projects. Oversee the maintenance and operation of all equipment, including power units, trailers, and dock handling equipment. Manage the training and orientation of all employees. Plan, monitor, and maintain employee schedules, including time off, vacations, and overtime. Provide coverage for employees as needed. Approve purchase orders within the maximum signing authority and direct to Head Office for payment. Investigate accidents and claims as necessary. Ensure all supervisory and managerial staff foster a positive and respectful work environment. Serve as a member of the Employee Representatives to Management committee. Perform all other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Positive attitude with proven management and leadership abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of providing praise and constructive criticism diplomatically. Ability to teach and direct employees effectively. Strong decision-making abilities, following company policies and procedures. Ability to remain calm during demanding situations. Proficiency with MS Office Suite required, experience with HCM and Dispatch systems preferred. Knowledge of costing, expenses, budgeting, and profitability reporting. Strong organizational and time management skills. Comprehensive understanding of terminal operations an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a full-time, salaried position with a typical schedule of Monday to Friday, based on 45 hours per week. Hours may vary according to operational needs and coverage requirements.
