Job Summary

The Ministry of Forests works collaboratively with ministries involved in the management of natural resources to coordinate people and resources to provide exceptional service to the public. The Ministry assists clients through its FrontCounter BC service counters, which simplifies the process for citizens and natural resource businesses who are seeking information or authorizations to utilize crown natural resources.

The Senior Natural Resource Specialist acts as the Team Lead for the program, provides supervision, conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement, project management and leadership within the FrontCounter BC office. The position may also lead or provide support to major projects teams or regional/provincial initiatives as required.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a natural resource management related field and a minimum of 4 years related experience in a resource management related field.
  • Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area. (e.g., Forest Professionals BC, Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia))
  • Experience working with key resource-based statutes and the relationships between policies and programs; and how these affect agency operations (environmental values, issues, land survey system, land use planning, and natural resources management concepts and processes).
  • Experience leading effective meetings and make effective presentations to public groups.
  • Experience participating in major project teams and/or leading regional initiatives.
  • Experience supervising and/or providing functional supervision to staff.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Master\'s degree and 3 years experience in resource management related field.
