Job Description

The LPN Nurse is responsible to Safely execute work which includes; navigating the patients through the total hip and knee program, providing patient surgical information, incisional staple removal, communicating with surgeons and running clinics and ensuring all nursing activities are carried out in a safe and responsible manner. Activities are planned, scheduled, and executed effectively and efficiently while complying with all CAO and regulatory, health, safety and environmental codes, practices, policies and regulations.

Safety

Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Ensure timely reporting and analysis of incidents, near misses, and hazards.
Performance

Complete scheduled incisional staple removals, Pre & Post-op phone calls, pre-packs, surgical contracts. Working in connect care and Accuro. Run Clinics (Example: ANES / IM clinics and TJA surgical clinics). Provide group teaching sessions for patients. Book appropriate diagnostic tests, track results and coordinate refill prescriptions. Manage patient and company information. Complete application of braces. Provide coverage for other services (Example: Cast room, MSK).
Training

Ensure the required levels of competencies are achieved by completing all required training and maintain records.
Communication

Communicate relevant support, concerns and information with teammates, surgeons and supervisor using the appropriate methods Share lessons learned, best practices and cost saving initiatives to enable continuous improvement.
Leadership

Actively promote and provide safe, quality patient centered care. Participate in development, verification and approval of procedures and documents. Ensure all procedures and documents are accurate, used and filed as required. Provide specific training, support and guidance to staff and students.

Certifications



Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) education program (Required) Active practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) (Required)

Experience



1-year as an LPN (Required) 1-3 years Orthopedic and/or surgical experience (Asset)

Technical Skills



Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Word and Outlook (Required) Accuro (Electronic Medical Record) (Asset) Netcare (Electronic Health Record) (Asset)

Pay: $32.97-$37.58 per hour
