The Long-Term Care Assistant (LTCA) role is a temporary mitigation to support the work of the Continuing Care Assistant (CCA), while facilities increase their CCA complement through the implementation of a variety of recruitment and retention strategies. The LTCA contributes an important role within the health care team. They are responsible for providing assistance with daily routines to residents along with activities of daily living. The role does not include provision of personal care to the residents/clients. Competencies Required:

Job Duties include:

• Perform light housekeeping duties such as tidying residents\xe2\x80\x99 rooms and collecting the garbage, cleaning closets, hanging clothing, making beds, cleaning wash basins, dental care cups, etc.
• Answer call bells and redirect when appropriate.
• Assisting with the residents\xe2\x80\x99 dining experience under the direction of the Nurse
• Assist and support resident activities.

• Assist in the preparation and cleanup of activity rooms and visit areas

• Spending time with residents and supporting social functions and activities.

• Assist with daily care of the residents as instructed by nursing staff.

Requirements

• Grade 12 education or non-academic equivalent
• Vulnerable sector check required.
• Previous experience in a long term care facility will be considered an asset. Must be willing to complete any training required as per facility\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures.

The successfull candidate would also be cross trained in Environmental Services: Environmental Service Worker is accountable for the purposes of providing and maintaining clean and safe environment throughout the facility. Tasks include but is not limited to scheduled cleaning, emergency cleaning, project work, infection control, equipment sanitation and any other related tasks. This position is being posted internally and externally. External applicants will be considered if there are no qualified or interested candidates internally. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The cleanliness and tidiness of the facility is a key component within the scope of their assigned duties.
Responsible for reporting any present or potential hazards to the safety of the Resident, Staff and/or Visitors.
Responsible for the routine and special project cleaning of all aspects of the facility including but not limited to the walls, windows, floors, curtains, tables, chairs, furniture and equipment in residents rooms, dining areas, alcoves, common rooms, utility rooms, tub rooms, washrooms, storage rooms, offices, corridors and entrances.
Responsible to ensure that all areas of the facility are well supplied with paper towels, toilet paper, and other products.
Responsible to ensure removal of garbage and waste from all areas and depositing it into the proper receptacle.
Responsible for other environmental duties as assigned by the Environmental Supervisor, including overall house cleaning.
Responsible for reporting all/any malfunctions of the equipment promptly to the Job Type: Casual Salary: From $16.01 per hour Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
