Job Description
We're hiring a Long Haul Driver to transport goods over long distances. You will be responsible for the operational aspects of truck transportation, including driving, loading and unloading, as well as the maintenance and upkeep of any trucks under your responsibility. Your primary duty will be transporting supplies from one location to another. To succeed in this role, you should have a clean driving record and be familiar with truck operation techniques. You should also be reliable in handling company vehicles. Ultimately, this role requires strength, stamina and a good eye for safety during transport operations.
Responsibilities:
Drive tractor-trailers for long distances (e.g. across two or three states) and load and unload cargo at customer locations, such as retail stores and warehouses.
Deliver packages under tight deadlines.
Plan routes for cargo delivery, taking into account delays and road conditions.
Locate customers by phone, fax or computer and reposition the tractor-trailer when necessary.
Load freight onto the cargo area of the tractor-trailer using a forklift.
Keep tractors in good working order by maintaining them regularly and following maintenance guidelines.
Keep records of daily activities, fuel consumption, etc.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
