Job Description


Job purpose

Responsible for supporting the Dempsey Operations Teams on the efficient movement and storage of inventory via inbound and outbound freight management, receiving documentation management, and inventory documentation management. Specifically support inventory management and accuracy reporting, company-wide receiving (including documentation accuracy, and support from time to time on freight coordination.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Track freight loads via Dempsey TMS or ERP and provide up-to-date information for interested parties.
  • Monitor shipments in transit, follow-up, tracking and tracing, problem identification, and timely resolution; and
  • Ensures on-time delivery and maintains accurate ETA records in the system so information is readily available to authorized individuals.
  • Book pick-ups, and arrange delivery appointments where needed.
  • Mitigate risk and exposure for Dempsey (insured loads).
  • Initiates and follows up on supply chain and freight related Non\xc2\xadconformance Reports (NCRs) by conducting a thorough investigation with internal and external resources and recommending options for resolution.
  • Support the supply chain team with the document management of our product documentation (reviewing, sourcing from suppliers, importing into ERP, and document quality management).
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures and ensures compliance; identifies areas of enhancement by leveraging and simplifying processes and methodologies.
  • Data management for Dempsey receiving documentation including the sourcing, validation, and importing of receiving documentation sourced from Dempsey distribution centers and 3PLs.
  • Recommend novel solutions/innovations to find cost efficiencies/savings.
  • Manages and prioritizes timelines of operational duties, ensuring all deadlines are met and customer needs are met or exceeded.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a related role.
  • Experience with domestic, cross-border, TL, LTL, intermodal, ocean, air, and bulk shipments
  • Post-secondary education preferred in \xe2\x80\x93 logistics, supply chain, and business administration.
  • Experience with TMS and ERP systems is an asset.
  • Excellent diplomatic, persuasive, and negotiation skills with a proven track record in dealing with and resolving customer concerns.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills, with emphasis on time management and multi-tasking.
  • Strong computer skills, Google Docs, Smart Sheets, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English); bilingual (French) an asset; proficient at delivering clear, concise presentations to large groups of people.
  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to supervise diverse personalities and a proven ability to think creatively.
  • Strong team player is able to work independently and relate with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure in order to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Self-motivator is able to create opportunities as well as act on opportunities.
Working conditions
  • Typical office environment.
  • Typical pressure to meet established deadlines but the incumbent has control over the work pace.
  • Limited travel within the local vicinity to meet with customers; travel is typically completed within the workday and overnight stays are infrequent.
  • Currently Operating under a Hybrid working model: Minimum 2 days per work week in the offices (1 day at our main office, 1 day at our local distribution center) with maximum 3 days per work week working from home. (Subject to change so flexibility is required)
Physical requirements
  • All activities are of low intensity. Infrequent periods of physical strain (i.e., Less than eight times per day) including one or more of the following (not including periods of travel).
  • Sitting, standing walking with little constraint
  • Lifting or moving objects less than 10 pounds. Freedom of physical movement.
  • Regular use of fine finger movements for keyboarding, but at a pace controlled by the employee.
