We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Logistics Supervisor to join our team. This is a full-time permanent position and an ON-SITE-only position.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Logistics Supervisor will report to the Director of Operations and work in a closely knit team with Horstman staff across Horstman and wider Horstman Group and RENK companies.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and schedule all internal and external transportation activities for freight shipments, ensuring timely delivery.
Responsible for ASN's (Advance Shipping Notification), Customs Paperwork, CERS - Canadian Customs paperwork, Commercial Invoices - Used for international taxes and tariffs
Complete/assist with all BOL-Bill of Lading, USMCA (NAFTA) - Tariff codes, ASN (Advance Shipping Notifications)
Preparing ACE, ACI and other dispatch related paperwork, managing Customs documents, records and communicating with brokers, carriers, and customers as required.
Responsible for all shipping material requests, and all shipping arrangements required with various carriers (UPS, DHL, FEDEX, etc.), shipping estimations (weights, dimensions, etc.) preparing shipment paperwork packages, commercial Invoices - Used for international taxes and tariffs, etc.
Co-ordinate and arrange for all local shipments that support the various HCA process needs which include activities between various suppliers and the plant.
Responding to customer and supplier inquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner.
ALSO INCLUDES
Maintaining customer databases and internal systems to ensure data accuracy and consistency
Generating internal reports, including but not limited to shipping reports and other reports as required
Collaborating with internal departments to facilitate smooth shipping and receiving operations and resolve any potential issues that may arise.
Adapting to evolving responsibilities in line with departmental needs and company priorities
Skills on Excel, Word and Outlook are essential
Lift truck and overhead crane license preferred.
Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other customer specific portals to initiate shipments and manage logistics.
Analyze data related to shipment performance and identify areas for improvement.
Assist in resolving any issues that may arise during transportation operations.
Determine the best delivery methods and negotiate rates directly with vendors.
Ability to use various bar code printers to create bar code labels.
Interactions required to support finance
Freight invoice discrepancies
Navigator invoice approvals
Provide Fedex invoices and any other invoices
Correspond with vendors for short shipments and MRDRs, providing the appropriate forms, to get the order rectified or have a credit/adjusted invoice provided
Rate discrepancy between the invoice and Misys, to verify which one was correct
Work with vendor if error on invoice
Request credit from the vendor for descaling.
Request a debit memo be created if there were any shipping/broker fees that should have been charged to the vendor directly
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, and technical skills:
Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
Manage carrier portfolio, including developing strong relationships and operational understandings to negotiate with potential carriers.
Proactively communicate pertinent shipment details to/from carriers to our internal team and or customers.
Work closely with senior management to define strategic direction and objections
Be able to collaborate with Carrier's, Freight Forwarders, and all other shipping and receiving activities.
Entrepreneurial spirit and interpersonal savvy
Sound analytical and critical thinking skills.
The ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and time-management skills
Must possess good negotiation skills and excellent judgment.
Prior Transportation Industry and/or Logistics experience are an asset

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
4-5 years of logistic work experience required
