SUMMARY:




Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of domestic and international shipping, with a particular focus on the transportation of dangerous goods for both internal and external customers. This role ensures shipments are completed in a timely, compliant, and cost-effective manner.


This fast-paced, dynamic position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of international shipping documentation requirements and ensures all paperwork--including customs forms and TDG shipping documents--is accurate and thorough. The role also involves managing inventory control, maintaining records of all products shipped and received, and coordinating packaging and labeling to ensure all orders are correctly fulfilled.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:



Perform packing and unpacking of shipments and deliveries. Pick up and deliver shipments within Calgary and surrounding areas using the company truck. Prepare and verify shipping documents in compliance with HAZMAT and dangerous goods (DG) shipping regulations, including invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations. Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments and material usage using ERP systems such as Great Plains and JobBOSS. Consolidate shipping orders and review international shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness, including customs paperwork, labeling, and hazard classifications. Oversee the end-to-end shipping process--from carrier selection through to final delivery--ensuring shipments are timely and intact. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Suppliers, and Customers to coordinate shipments, meet deadlines, and ensure proper documentation. Participate in quarterly inventory counts and assist with data entry tasks such as inventory transactions and job closeouts. Process customer transactions with accuracy, including orders, quotes, invoices, and returns. Promote and encourage safe work practices while supporting Health & Safety (HSE) initiatives and identifying areas for improvement. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, balancing immediate shipping needs with long-term logistical goals. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPENTENCIES:



High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a logistics, shipping, or warehouse role, including forklift operation (training provided). Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record. TDG certification for shipping lithium batteries (training provided). Experience with FedEx, UPS, WorldShip, freight routing, and bill of lading (BOL) preparation. Proven experience in global shipping and logistics, including air and ocean freight. Knowledge of international dangerous goods shipping regulations (IATA, IMDG, ADR). Familiarity with customs forms and other international documentation. Strong attention to detail and compliance-focused mindset. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. Experience with shipping software and tracking systems preferred. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Self-motivated, well-organized, and deadline-driven. Team-oriented with a collaborative, proactive approach. Willingness to follow policies, safety protocols, and pursue professional growth.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:




This role is conducted in an manufacturing environment requiring some or all the following:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation with repetitive hand and arm movements. Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.; may include setup of equipment for demonstrations or internal needs. Frequent reaching, grasping, bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling motions. Standing or walking for extended periods during shipping, inventory, or production activities. Bending, kneeling, or standing to access equipment or perform inspections. Occasional travel to client sites or other facilities as required. Must respond effectively in time-sensitive or emergency situations. Work environment includes varying temperatures and noise levels typical of a manufacturing setting; may include exposure to battery chemicals or materials used in assembly. * Required to wear and properly use PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment per company safety policies.
