Are you a logistics pro with a passion for precision and a drive for excellence? Atlantic Poultry Incorporated (API) is looking for a Logistics Manager to lead and elevate our hatchery transportation operations. In this pivotal role, you'll take charge of the daily movement of eggs and chicks, craft smart, efficient delivery schedules, and ensure legislative standards and biosecurity protocols are met every step of the way.



You'll be the go-to person for maintaining our fleet of commercial transport trucks and equipment--keeping operations running smoothly and safely across the entire supply chain. Your leadership will play a critical role in delivering healthy chicks on time while upholding the highest standards of animal welfare.

Position Accountabilities



Coordinate the scheduling, transportation, pick-up, and/or delivery of eggs and day-old chicks throughout API operations. Monitor all assigned trips and ensure the proper tracking of all chick deliveries. Respectfully communicate with customers regarding schedules, changes, and other key information. Manage customer concerns in a timely and respectful manner. With direction from the Fleet and Logistics Manager coordinate API vehicle fleet operations, including maintenance schedules, routing, and driver assignments. Collaborate closely with the Customer Service Manager, Hatchery Managers, and farms to align logistics with operational needs. Monitor logistics performance and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost improvements. Maintain accurate records including maintenance, vehicle service, shipments, deliveries, transportation costs, etc. Develop contingency plans for delivery disruptions or emergencies, including monitoring weather forecasts. Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and relevant transportation regulations both provincially and federally. Ensure licensing, registration, and insurance of all vehicles meets compliance. Ensure vehicle inspections and pre-trip inspections are completed. Schedule regular preventative truck maintenance to ensure vehicles are in safe working condition. Keep detailed maintenance logs for vehicles. Stay current with best practices. Participate in negotiates of purchase or lease agreements for new equipment as required. Manage API Logistics budget, track expenses, and monitor budget variances. Manage, coach, and lead NS Hatchery Drivers, including recruiting, orienting, training, and coaching staff, completing employee evaluations and employee discipline. Provide training to Drivers to ensure they have the skills and tools to safely and accurately perform their job. Develop Driver work schedules, assign, and monitor work. Foster a positive team environment that promotes teamwork. Provide an environment free of animal cruelty, abuse and/or neglect for our poultry. Protect the organization's value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential. Practice biosecurity protocols. Promote and follow all safety procedures. All other duties as assigned.

Positions Requirements



Post secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, or equivalent experience is preferred. The ability to build strong internal and external relationships. Focused on customer service. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written. Strong understanding of animal transport regulations and biosecurity protocols. Proven leadership and team management experience. Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with logistics and fleet management software. Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products, SharePoint especially Excel, Word and Access. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Valid Class 5 driver's license with Air Brakes; Class 1 license preferred.
