The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Logistics team\'s operational capacity. They will also support the leadership in achieving objectives and developing strategies and tools to increase operational capacity.

Duties and responsibilities

Responsibility 1 \xe2\x80\x93 Team management

  • Supervise, coach, and support staff reporting to them directly.
  • Establish and implement effective working methods within the team.
  • Assist in selecting and onboarding new staff.
  • Prepare and facilitate team meetings.
Responsibility 2 \xe2\x80\x93 Logistics
  • Coordinate all assigned logistics activities.
  • Coordinate the setting up, maintenance and closure of a various infrastructures.
  • Contribute to creating safe and secure working environments and spaces.
  • Coordinate the CRC\'s physical resources (including inventory management), working with the Manager, Support to Operations.
  • Plan and anticipate logistics needs in collaboration with the Manager, Support to Operations.
  • Analyze logistics needs and make recommendations to improve operations.
  • Ensure the quality of services and compliance with CRC-established standards and procedures in Quebec.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Red Cross partners and suppliers.
Responsibility 3 \xe2\x80\x93 Emergency response
  • Act as an active member of an emergency response team.
  • Collaborate with the Emergency Management team to develop and implement emergency preparedness plans.
  • Implement and regularly update various components of the Red Cross\xe2\x80\x99s assistance program to adequately meet the needs of impacted people targeted by the recovery program.
  • Liaise with other assistance providers to maximize needs coverage.
What we are looking for:
  • A university degree in a related discipline; a combination of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years\' work experience in logistics and emergency response.
  • Any other equivalent training or experience may be considered.
  • Experience as a Red Cross emergency management volunteer, particularly as a manager/supervisor, is an asset.
  • Fluency in French and English is mandatory.
  • Proficiency with computers (databases, Office suite) is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of and practical experience with a client database (experience with EMIS is an asset).
Working conditions:
  • Travel within the community is a regular part of the job. A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence is required.
  • Non-traditional work hours will be required to meet the needs of the volunteer teams, be available during emergency responses, and perform on-call duty.
  • Potential for responding to disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions. These stressful environments can potentially affect the physical and psychological state of the responders on site.
  • Ability to be on-call when scheduled, as required.
  • Travel within the province and across Canada is part of the regular duties of the position.
