Calgary Metal Recycling Inc. seeks to fill a newly developed position of Logistics Coordinator that will report directly to the Director of Business Development and indirectly to the Chief Executive Officer of the company. The successful candidate will become a key person in the successful movement of all goods inbound and outbound for the company. We are searching for an individual who is confident and reliable, from a solid base of knowledge and experience, who will provide excellent planning and communication skills, both internally and externally, to manage our internal fleet of drivers and equipment to successfully execute our bin service and product pick up requirements for our industrial customer base. In addition, this position will be equally responsible to manage all rail shipment requirements, outbound containers shipping requirements and outbound truck/intermodal requirements. Therefore, we are seeking an individual who has a rounded base of experience across these transportation management needs. Job Duties Internal Fleet Management: \xc2\xb7 Coordinate, schedule and manage our pool of drivers. \xc2\xb7 Coordinate the availability and assignment of equipment to satisfy customer demand. This will include all aspects of a strong equipment maintenance program to ensure the fleet is kept in strong operating condition, working closely with our maintenance team. \xc2\xb7 Handle all external communication from our customers in schedule bin pickup and delivery requirements on a daily/weekly basis. Rail transportation management: \xc2\xb7 Establish strong communication with CN and CP railways. \xc2\xb7 Formulate the monthly railcar requirements for both railways based on outbound shipment requirements \xc2\xb7 Monitor daily movement of railcars, proactively identifying issues and concerns and executing on resolution to ensure no bottlenecks allowing our sales teams to hit targets. \xc2\xb7 Monitor and manage our internal fleet of owned railcars, includes all Railinc requirements and monitoring of maintenance costs \xc2\xb7 Document and manage all associated costs for AP review and approval Outbound container management: \xc2\xb7 Driven by sales, ensure timely and accurate freight bookings are in place. \xc2\xb7 Communicate booking and container requirements with 3rd party drayage and monitor on a daily basis. \xc2\xb7 Document and manage all associated costs for AP review and approval. Outbound truck/intermodal management: \xc2\xb7 Driven by sales, ensure timely and accurate engagement of truck and/or intermodal freight requirements. Includes: o Planning the loading schedules o Ordering equipment from 3rd party providers o Minimizing freight costs through rate management and load maximization o Load planning o Daily follow-up to ensure schedules are being maintained \xc2\xb7 Document and manage all associated costs for AP review and approval. You don\xe2\x80\x99t have to be a driver or a mechanic but you do need to be able to intelligently engage with both to ensure our fleet is well managed. \xc2\xb7 Experience or exposure to railway shipping. \xc2\xb7 Experience or exposure to ocean shipping, especially around local container and drayage needs \xc2\xb7 Experience or exposure to truckload and intermodal shipping.
