The objective of the Department is to ensure that Nova Scotians are safe, prepared and resilient in the face of disasters and emergencies. The Department leads the coordination and co-operation of partners and resources during provincial level critical incidents, supports municipal and other partners in regional level and local events, administers the province's 911 service, maintains critical communications infrastructure and supports operations of our regional emergency management centres. The Department also works to ensure critical government services continue to function during and after critical events.The Regional Operations and Infrastructure BranchThe Regional Operations and Infrastructure Branch enhances the safety and resilience of our Province by:

• Strengthening critical communications infrastructure through the establishment and oversight of the Public Safety Field Communications Agency. The Agency's mission is to create a Centre of Excellence in the delivery of public safety communications, dispatch, and related technologies across Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada
• Establishing and maintaining Regional Emergency Operations Centres (REOCs) in 6 regions in Nova Scotia. The REOCs provide leadership in building regional emergency operations networks; ensuring collaborative efforts around emergency planning, training and exercising and developing regional plans for equipment and stores to support emergency response
• Coordinating response to regional emergencies
• Strengthening local and regional emergency preparedness through outreach and education to Nova Scotians at community events, schools, organizations, and through information sessions
• Fostering strong collaboration, communication, and emergency management planning with regional partners, including the development and coordination of regional Nova Scotia Guard networks
• Providing information to the Provincial Coordination Centre and the 24/7 Watch Desk staff to ensure real-time situational awareness, coordination, and support during emergencies and actioning critical information received from the Provincial Coordination Centre in the regions

About Our OpportunityThe Public Safety Field Communications Agency is responsible for managing public safety and public works two-way radio communications, infrastructure, and dispatch services on behalf of the Province.PSFC are seeking a Logistics and Equipment Coordinator to join our team. This role will focus on ensuring the readiness and operational efficiency of critical communications infrastructure, fleet, facilities, and various equipment that supports regional emergency operations across the province for the entire Regional Operations and Infrastructure branch of DEM.The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining and strengthening regional emergency management capabilities, including managing equipment and technology, coordinating logistics during emergencies, and supporting municipal Regional Emergency Management Organizations (REMOs), and six Regional Emergency Operations Centres. You will track assets, research and procure equipment, and maintain lifecycle plans for major assets.Primary Accountabilities

• Manage and distribute inventory of departmental assets, equipment, technology, and PPE for field staff
• Track the location and status of all major equipment
• Ensure field equipment and communications technology is ready for deployment at all times
• Manage the deployment, operation, and recovery of assets and equipment supporting planned and emergency events
• Training others on specialized equipment
• Prepare and maintain lifecycle plans for equipment
• Serve as the primary contact for preventative maintenance or emergency maintenance (as required) on equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Research specialized equipment that may be required by the Department
• Carry out procurement processes for equipment, technology, and vehicles
• Oversee and maintain the branch's fleet and facilities to always guarantee operational readiness.
• Support PSFC's Mobile Communications Support program, deploying equipment and expertise to emergencies and planned events
• Actively respond to regional emergencies, ensuring that necessary logistical support and equipment are deployed effectively.
• Provide logistical support to municipal REMOs, assisting with operations and coordinating resources as needed.
• Ensure the readiness of six provincial REOCs, coordinating operations, staffing, and logistics for effective emergency response.
• Support the logistical needs of the Nova Scotia Guard

Qualifications and ExperienceYou have completed post-secondary education in Emergency Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, Technology or a related field, plus at least one (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Assets:

• Professional certifications in emergency management, logistics, or related fields (e.g., Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar would be an asset.
• Experience in managing fleet and facilities to ensure operational readiness and efficiency, particularly in emergency or critical environments.
• Experience with Trunked Mobile Radio, and/or licensed radio operator (marine, aeronautical, or amateur radio).
• Experience in emergency response coordination and management, with knowledge of logistics, resource allocation, and field operations during regional or provincial emergencies.
• Incident Command system or Incident Management Team certifications and/or experience.

• The normal workweek is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day, with evenings, weekends, and overtime during emergencies.
• Frequent travel across the province to support Regional Emergency Operations Centres in Liverpool, Kentville, HRM, Bible Hill, Antigonish, and Sydney is required.
• Some requirements to work outside of normal business hours, especially when traveling.
• The position may require participation in a 24/7/365 standby rotation with other staff during emergencies, and may require travel and extended shifts at abnormal hours when supporting emergency operations.

Additional Information

• Must hold a valid class 5 driver's license.
• Successful candidates will be required to obtain enhanced reliability security clearance.
• This position will initially be located on Windmill Road in Dartmouth.
