We are looking for a Locomotive Engineer (Engineman) to be responsible for safely carrying-out rail car movement activities at the Iron Ore Company of Canada site in Labrador City, NL. The work schedule is a 3-2-2-3 roster.

Reporting to the Transport & Traffic Supervisor and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will be:
  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards \xe2\x80\x93 actively participating, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our \xe2\x80\x9cZero harm\xe2\x80\x9d safety culture
  • Understanding and adhering to rail rules and regulations
  • Safely switching ore and freight cars
  • Communicating with other train crew members, the railroad employees by radio, signals or by other means to give and receive train operations information and aid in the movement and operation of trains
  • Handling the train between Labrador City and Ross Bay Junction, with a strong focus on safety and customer service
  • Operating locomotives based on business requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Demonstrated capacity for working independently during long hours
  • Team membership skills including the ability to work well in a team environment
It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Locomotive Engineering experience & CROR qualification
  • Mechanical or electrical background
  • Previous experience with operation of railway locomotives and yards
