Overview

Island Family owned SharKare Farm and Feed has been doing business on Vancouver Island since 1986. We are in need of a local driver to handle our retail store deliveries and Pick ups. This Driver roll is a hands on roll which requires operation of Electric Pallet Jack use to delivery full pallets of pet food, farm feed and garden supplies to our retail stores. We have 8 locations located between Duncan to Campbell River. The work schedule is Monday-Thursday.

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials within a designated area while ensuring timely and safe delivery. This role requires strong attention to detail and adherence to safety regulations, making it essential for candidates to have a solid understanding of vehicle operation and maintenance.

Duties

Class 1 Drivers License is a Must Have! The Roles primarily works with 53ft Trailers.

Operate company vehicles to transport freight and materials to various locations within the local area. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage during transit. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and management regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transportation. Assist in basic automotive repairs and maintenance as needed to keep vehicles in optimal condition. Follow all traffic laws and company policies while operating vehicles, ensuring the safety of yourself and others on the road.

Qualifications

Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred; experience in commercial driving is a plus. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is advantageous. Experience operating forklifts is desirable for loading and unloading tasks. Strong knowledge of automotive repair principles is beneficial for vehicle maintenance. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear interaction with team members and clients. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism at all times.
