Local Food Coordinator

Job Description

The Prince Edward Island Federation of Agriculture (PEIFA) represents over 500 farms and 17 agricultural commodity groups across the province. The PEIFA Local Food Coordinator will be responsible for providing communications, event planning, and administrative support to the PEIFA and Farm & Food Care. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of communications and marketing products such as social media content, website content, digital communications, digital advertisements, and PEIFA membership communications. This is a one-year parental leave position that has the potential to be extended with exceptional performance. This position reports to the PEIFA Farm & Food Care Coordinator.

Duties:



Develop content to implement communications plans that promote Farm & Food Care PEI, other PEIFA programs, and membership engagement

Ensure content produced aligns with established PEIFA brand guidelines, organizational values, and stated program/project objectives

Work with third parties to assist with content production when budget & deliverables require

Assist with the planning and implementation of public events

Participate in meetings of the Farm & Food Care Steering Committee to provide updates and receive feedback

Engage with farmers and food producers to develop opportunities to contribute to public trust and local food initiatives

Travel to relevant industry conferences and workshops to share best practices and network

Prepare newsletters/releases and contribute to website and social media content as part of broader communications strategies

Participate in the preparation & distribution of weekly digital & biannual physical newsletters

Identify opportunities to improve food security on Prince Edward Island and inform policy recommendations that could help implement those opportunities

Identify funding opportunities and other non-financial partnerships that can help achieve goals for public trust of PEI agriculture and PEI food security

Provide support to teammates when needed for workshop, field days and conferences hosted by the PEIFA

Complete applications and reporting for any relevant grant funding as required

Ensure the brand's visual identity is clear across all communication platforms

Gathers analytics related to social media and website to ensure continuous improvement in the development and dissemination of information and resources

May be called upon to participate in cross-functional teamwork

Preferred Skills & Experience:



Minimum of undergraduate degree preferred

Diploma/Certification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations and/or related three years of experience in a marketing or communications role

Strong knowledge of best practices and experience in developing digital communications products, writing for the web, newsletters and social media

Excellent writing skills and relevant experience writing for different formats

Demonstrated experience or strong interest in Prince Edward Island agriculture

Strong computer software skills, including experience with Constant Contact, Canva, Adobe Design Suite, Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and WordPress

Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously including deadlines

Demonstrated experience successfully planning and executing public events

Excellent oral and written capacity in English

Exceptional attention to detail with an emphasis on editing and proof reading

Adaptable to changing priorities and a keen willingness to learn and develop

Experience in member and/or customer relations

Valid driver's license

Willing and able to work in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

The position is full-time temporary, with the potential for extension.

The position salary is $48,000 plus a 5% RRSP matching contribution.
