Our Company is looking for a full time Local Dispatch position for trucking operations.
Responsibilities:
Driver Scheduling
: Plan and manage daily shift schedules for local drivers, ensuring compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
Load Assignment
: Strategically assign local pickups and deliveries to drivers based on geography, equipment type, and appointment windows.
Real-Time Troubleshooting
: Provide active support to drivers on the road, resolving issues related to traffic, mechanical breakdowns, or site access problems.
Highway Integration
: Coordinate with the Highway Dispatch team to time local pickups so that trailers are ready for long-haul departure.
Status Reporting
: Provide accurate, real-time updates to the customer service team regarding delays or successful completions.
TMS Management
: Maintain accurate data entry within the Transportation Management System (TMS).
Documentation
: Ensure all Bill of Lading (BOL) and proof of delivery paperwork is collected and processed correctly.
Requirements:
Industry Experience:
Proven background in trucking dispatch or freight operations, with a deep understanding of logbook regulations, equipment types, and transit timing.
Strategic Prioritization:
Exceptional ability to manage a high-volume workload, identifying and tackling "high-priority" movements while maintaining oversight of the entire fleet.
Technical Proficiency:
Skilled in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) with fast, accurate data entry skills and the ability to quickly learn new Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
Clear Articulation:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide concise, professional instructions to drivers and stakeholders.
Driver Relations:
A natural ability to build rapport with drivers, providing the clear direction and motivation needed to ensure freight moves safely and on schedule.
Collaborative Mindset:
A team player who thrives in a shared office environment and can synchronize efforts with the highway dispatch team to meet company goals.
Decisive Judgment:
Sound decision-making skills and the ability to take "ownership" of a situation with minimal supervision.
Grace Under Pressure:
The ability to remain composed and organized in high-intensity situations, such as tight delivery windows or sudden equipment failures.
