The Load Planner is responsible for efficiently managing the planning, optimization, and scheduling of freight loads to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role involves coordinating with internal teams, carriers, and suppliers to ensure that all loads are properly planned, routed, and executed to meet company and customer requirements.
This opportunity is located in Moosonee, ON.
As a Load Planner, you will:
• Ensure that loads are efficiently packed, minimizing space and reducing transportation costs.
• Coordinate with fabrication shop on creation of packages to maximize efficiency for shipping.
• Work closely with carriers, warehouses, and other departments to schedule loads and ensure timely delivery.
• Track loads with multiple stops and transportation methods on route to remote locations
• Manage the coordination between shipments, handling any issues related to delays, capacity, or scheduling conflicts.
• Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed for each load, including shipping instructions, bills of lading, and compliance with transportation regulations.
• Maintain records of shipments and work with teams to handle invoicing and billing discrepancies.
• Collaborate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure that all products are available for shipment when needed.
• Identify and resolve any issues related to shipping delays, damaged goods, or other transportation-related concerns.
• Plan and coordinate transport of manpower to remote sites.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and reduce operational inefficiencies.
• Provide data-driven insights to management to improve logistics strategies and operations.
Our ideal candidate has:
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience (2+ years) in load planning, transportation management, or logistics.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, freight carriers, and routing systems.
• Experience with TMS (Transportation Management System) and other logistics software.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
• Experience in cost reduction and freight optimization strategies.
• Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
