Job Summary


The main responsibly of the Load Checker/Forklift position is to ensure all shipped orders are pulled correctly by checking for product type, length, and quantity. When operating a forklift and chainsaw the main objective is to safely build orders for accuracy with minimum waste of product.

Responsibilities



Load Checker:

Check each order for correct product type, length and quantity. Ensure orders are appropriately labelled and tagged. Spray on loads that are checked. Crosscheck that both beams and joists have been merged together in the loading square. Complete paperwork in a timely efficient manner, allowing shipping to proceed with the next steps. Check all loaded trucks, ensuring the complete order(s) has been loaded and paperwork has been marked off accordingly. Communicate any errors or omissions with shipping. Monitor if errors (repeat) occur from forklift operators not tagging, incorrect product or incomplete paperwork. Monitor "dead" orders or product that may have been left behind. Other duties as assigned by management
Forklift:

Operating forklift in a safe manner Tallying and recording returned product, matching tally to customer records. Identifying any discrepancies between customer records and returned product. Returning product to appropriate stock locations. Cutting engineered beams/joists with chainsaw with minimum waste utilizing stock. Assist with fulfilling customer pick ups. Assemble loads to specifications stated on the work order with appropriate packaging/banding. Responsible for meeting productivity requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain a clean and organized worksite. Adhere to safe workplace policies and procedures, along with safety standards including forklift safety pre-trips and inspections along with inspecting other equipment before use Other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



Be able to walk and stand on pavement for long periods of time Current forklift certification for the worksite Principles, theories and practices of forklift operation Ability to operate a chainsaw in a safe manner Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team Ability to plan, organize and execute tasks Ability to work within a fast-paced environment Good communication skills, both written and verbal and strong inter-personal skills Positive attitude and willingness to improve processes Run, maneuver, navigate and operate forklift within confines of worksite Above average math skills and attention to detail a must

Working Conditions:



Must have the ability to walk and/or stand on pavement in all weather conditions (sun, rain, and snow) for more than an hour at a time as this job is outside 100% of the time. Ability to lift items weighing 3 lbs. to 60 lbs and walk up to 25 feet. Ability to stretch arms above head and lift boxes on and off shelves. Ability to bend knees to lift boxes on and off ground, pallets or carts. Ability to rotate body in tight / confined spaces up to 90 degrees. Will need to step on and off Forklift multiple times throughout the day. High paced environment. Availability to work 5 days per week / 8 hours per day during business hours with the ability to work overtime when needed. Must have flexible schedule with ability to work Saturdays and be able to work overtime when needed.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
