Litigation Paralegal (Family Law/Child Protection)

Lawson Lundell LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our busy Child Protection team, in our Yellowknife office. The position has the flexibility to work from our Calgary or Vancouver Office. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic and hardworking team player who would like to work with lawyers in this practice group. The regular working hours for this role are Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday, 8:30 am \xe2\x80\x93 4:30 pm.
Requirements:
  • Professional

  • Originate own work from standard precedents
  • Track and record billable time on files
  • Resolves issues relating to legal procedures
  • Provide some general direction and training to more junior staff
  • Other tasks as required

Qualifications:
  • Preferably a graduate of a recognized Paralegal Program with at least 4 years of Family Law or Child Protective Services experience.
  • Proactive in keeping up-to-date with changes relating to legal procedures, including filing and limitation dates, Acts, and Regulations in the area of specialty
  • Has achieved a level of independence
  • A high level of proficiency with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage many files at once
  • Drafting capabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
