Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant
Location: Toronto, ON
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: $50,000-$75,000/year Our client in Toronto, ON is actively looking for a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and format a wide range of litigation documents, including legal correspondence, pleadings, affidavits of documents, motion materials, and mediation briefs.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, ensuring accuracy prior to service and court filing.
  • Provide transcription support as required.
  • Support multiple lawyers by coordinating workflows, managing priorities, and ensuring smooth day-to-day practice operations.
  • Compile specialized reports by collecting, organizing, and summarizing relevant information.
  • Maintain organized physical and digital filing systems in compliance with firm standards.
  • Prepare bills of costs, process cheque requisitions, and assist with financial and billing-related tasks.
  • Schedule examinations for discovery, court attendances, mediations, and internal or external meetings, while managing calendars efficiently.
  • Use sound judgment and initiative to independently handle administrative tasks, allowing lawyers to focus on substantive legal work.
  • Work with a variety of legal and court-related software platforms, including electronic court systems and practice management tools, as required.
  • Oversee files from intake through resolution, ensuring deadlines, documentation, and procedural requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with other legal support staff on complex or high-volume matters and provide coverage during team absences.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a legal support role; background in insurance litigation is considered an asset.
  • Completion of a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and litigation processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems or processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong understanding of legal accounting, billing, and cost recovery procedures.
