We are seeking a Legal Assistant/Law Clerk to become a part of our team! You will provide overall support to our litigation department's needs.
Responsibilities:
Working with lawyers and clerks to prepare court pleadings and proceedings.
Issue pleadings and file various court documents via the e-civil filing portal.
Prepare simple court documents
Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents
Opening files, typing, drafting, proofreading, photocopying, faxing, binding documents, scanning, revising and formatting various correspondence and legal documents, issuing and arranging for service of originating processes and other documents, filing and preparing materials for storage
Drafting and sending correspondence
Prepare accounts
Familiarity and willingness to learn new applications as needed
Schedule meetings, court appearances, examinations, and mediations
Record and store client information (paper and electronic format)
Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a legal assistant in Collections and Mortgage Enforcement an asset
Legal Assistant/ Law Clerk certification from a recognized institution required
Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Soluno
Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and general court procedure
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Deadline and detail-oriented
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM
